About The Foundation

In 1986, the College of Hospitality , Retail and Sport Management, formerly the College of Applied Professional Sciences, created the George Rogers Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship is given each year to a student enrolled in the College of Hospitality , Retail and Sport Management, the college of which George is an alumnus. As a result of his continuing commitment and desire to provide financial support, in 1991 the George Rogers Foundation of the Carolinas, Inc. was established.

The foundation provided over $80,000 in financial support to students seeking post-secondary education and surrounding nonprofit organizations. To include, Big Brothers & Big Sisters of the Midlands, the Boys & Girls Club, USC TRIO Programs, Thornwell Home for Boys, Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, Harmony Group, and Family Connection’s Breath Easy Project, to name a few.

The intent of the Foundation is to increase awards and contributions from year to year. The main fundraising event, the George Rogers Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic, Celebrity reception and silent/live auction held is annually. Primary funding for the George Rogers Foundation comes from private donors as well as businesses and individuals.

Mission

To provide financial assistance/scholarships to students in the Carolinas and to provide financial support to community based youth development non profit organizations.

Objectives

  • 95 % of the students will be first generation college students.
  • 100% of the candidates will live in the Carolinas.
  • 100% of the candidates selected will receive financial assistance.
